Schemes of work

MMC have created three schemes of work:-

Reception-Year 1 and 2-Story based learning
Year 3 and Year 4- Eat Well Plate
Year 5 and 6-Vitamins and Minerals

MMC teachers will guide pupils through a scheme of work. MMC will help to develop the participant’s creativity to express themselves through the practical work they complete. The children will be using literacy and numeracy skills throughout the program and reinforcing communication skills along with how to work within a team. This allows the school to have confidence that MMC can cover their PPA time.

Projects

The schemes of work can also be focused around the topic or project which is currently being studied by the pupils. i.e. when studying religion-practicals could be centred around festive foods. The topic areas can be chosen by the school and schemes of work can be made specifically for the requested area.

We recommend that schools hire MMC for a minimum of a half term to help the pupils develop their practical and theory skills on a regular basis. This gives the pupils the required time to complete the whole scheme of work. The scheme of work will have been designed to meet the required elements of the curriculum. MMC’s schemes of work are designed for reception children and upwards to meet the goals and targets of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the KS1-KS2 national curriculum.

MMC prides itself on incorporating the five principles of the Every Child Matters Agenda into all schemes of work.

MMC hope to be able to include parents/caregivers in the learning process to create a fun, safe and supportive learning environment.

Afterschool Clubs

MMC can provide an afterschool cookery club, which can enrich the schools extended hours program and can be used to include parents/ caregiver in an after school activity. This type of service can also encourage parent partnerships within the school. This afterschool club could be used to involve the local community through selling the products made by the children or families during a summer fete or bake sale. Funding can also be gained by schools to be able to run this service. Please contact MMC for further details.

Activity Centres

Activity centres can use MMC as an alternative to outdoor activities and during the winter when other activities are not available. Projects can be focused around the topic or project within an activity centre.  The topic areas can be chosen by the activity centre and projects can be made specifically for the requested area. i.e. if children are learning about survival, the project could be to design a snack which would provide them with the nutrients they would need to survive.

MMC Projects can be used to develop coordination, creativity, team work, self esteem and confidence.

Prices for Schools

There is a standard hourly charge (see below), however schools may want project based work so pricing will then be negotiated.

However, if schools are interested in project based work then prices can be negotiated.

Additional members of staff can also be requested to take part in the smooth running of the service and will therefore free up other members of the school’s staff.
